| What's in Your Purse?
is a community interactive exhibition about purses and their contents. This project is one of four projects featured in the Surrey Art Gallery's 25th Anniversary Exhibition June 4 - September 17, 2000. |

| In preparation for the exhibition, Leap Visual Artist Group asks the public for a glimpse inside their purses, for stories about purses and for the donation of actual purses. At the end of the exhibition, purses collected will be donated to a local women's charity | |

The purse
is a common object, carried over the arms and on the shoulders of millions of women of
various ages and cultures around the world. At the same time, there is a sense of mystique
attached to each individual purse - aside from carrying identification, keys and money,
what's in that purse? What are people carrying in their purses and what do those contents
reveal about us and about our times?
